Lesson Description

Music is a wonderful art, and singing – the gift of God. Here at JMI our vocal tutors emphasise the importance of learning good technique, which is the basis of all singing. Students are initially taught the importance of concentration and breathing (and practice!), and then how to improve their diction, their pronounciation of vowels and how best to open the mouth when singing.  Students learn music from a wide repertoire, from classical to Broadway, which can be tailored to each individual’s experience, skills and preferences. Students also have the option of taking ABRSM exams.

Please note that all students taking ABRSM Grade 6 or above need to have passed ABRSM Grade 5 Theory.  Students are anyway recommended to take music theory lessons as this greatly enhances their understanding of music.
